What’s the purpose of the Children’s Healing Center?

We provide a safe, clean place for kids with compromised immune systems to gather, engage with our expert staff, learn, and play.

What is the facility like?

Our 7,000-square-foot building has four primary program areas: an exploratory play area, an active fitness space, a tech zone, and an art and learning room.

What does it cost?

At this time, due to generous community donations, memberships are free of charge.

How does it work? Do I need to sign up for a class?

Not necessarily. We offer scheduled classes, open play, and member-coordinated programming.

Who do you serve?

We serve kids, ages 3 to 18. Parents, siblings, and loved ones are also encouraged to visit.

What’s the goal?

Through group activities, we strive to get kids active and involved. At the same time, we help forge connections between families, breaking down the barriers of isolation that often form when coping with a serious illness.

What about siblings and loved ones?

We make siblings feel special and welcome. There’s also space for parents to connect and share with one another.

Do you partner with other organizations?

We collaborate with area businesses, colleges and universities, medical centers, and other nonprofit organizations. The Children’s Healing Center complements other children’s services in Grand Rapids, including family resources, housing, medical treatment, and support groups.
